Gluten-Free in Goldsboro North Carolina is possible at McCalls BBQ and Seafood Restaurant. They have an absolutely delicious buffet. I went with friends for dinner twice over a weekend because it was just so good. North Carolina BBQ is a vinegar-based recipe that is distinct in the Southeast. The gluten-free plate above was my dinner and it was made up of BBQ, of course! butter beans, corn, green beans, tossed salad, and coleslaw. Feel free to bring in a piece of your favorite bread with you to make a fabulous BBQ and slaw sandwich! Oh, and by the way, North Carolina Sweet Tea is a must when you are visiting. They know how to do it right!! It’s a feast!! By the way, their BBQ is slow-cooked over an open pit behind the restaurant! So fresh!

Goldsboro is the home to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. McCalls shows their appreciation to the military and offers a military discount on Mondays. Goldsboro is a step back in time town that respects its military community in a big way. We were stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB for 6 years and have a soft spot in our hearts for the town and people! Not to mention the food!!
The owners, Alan & Tyler McCall, who just happen to be brothers, are so accommodating and are more than happy to walk you through the buffet line to point out what is and isn’t gluten-free. It’s all SO good and fresh!!
